This is one of the best movies of the 2008

Plot: Devastated Peter takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know Sarah's traveling to the same resort as her ex ... and she's bringing along her new boyfriend.

This movie had a few things against it, a super annoying city-covering marketing campaign and a mini-backlash from the Apatow (Superbad) laugh factory (exhibit a and b: Walk Hard', Drillbit Taylor). However it got very good reviews on (Ebert and) Roeper so that gave me hope. Who likes hype though?

Fortunately for me, a subdued and conservative enthusiasm did not take away from the movie, even if they do give a lot of it away in a trailer (the magicians behind the two-minute reel really need to do something new and different for comedies)

I know a lot of guys thought the Peter (Jason Segel) character was super pussy but I found him very sympathetic. Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell), not that hot. Something about her eyes. Mila Kunis on the other hand had a meteroic makeover since That 70's Show. The cutey. Period (proof)

The flick sports a host of colorful secondary characters. The Aldous Snow character while pompous to the max was not actually that loathable. His British accent worked. There are fun small roles with some local flavor (Hawaiians + Samoans, and also that kid from South Central), major weedhead Paul Rudd, Snow superfan Jonah Hill (Superbad) and a very good Bill Hader as Peter's brother-in-law support

The movie is also a fun homage to Hawaii, couples who over do it there and all those cliches. Reclaimed for all of manhood and mankind by Segel who also wrote this movie, major bigness props. I think he hit a few things with perfect notes: that scene where he goes "tell me you're sorry" or something, and what follows; the picture from the bathroom at the very end and that ridiculously genius dracula operatic number, you must see this tour de force (he crazyo)

Yes, as Roeper hinted at the possiblity, this could very well be better than Superbad and Knocked Up. Word

I am partial to this one-sheet though I haven't seen it too much

PS I almost forgot, male nudity is definitely NOT cool
