This is one of the best movies of the 2006
Plot: Robert and Alfred are rival magicians. When Alfred performs the ultimate magic trick, Robert tries desperately to find out the secret to the trick.
There were some super reviews and it's an interesting and very strong movie for sure but it fell short of such high praises Movie takes place in London which is not all that clear but the heavy accents do fit the location. I think the clothing was interesting, Dickensian type high hat and stuff. The opening scene with the top hats is quite good in retrospect. And the final scene/dialogue too. "The Prestige" indeed. In fact, second to the very strong performances (Bale, Jackman, Caine) was the way the movie was constructed, precise editing that advances the storyline so well This movie if for nothing is the best I've seen Bale and Jackman, I'm no huge fan of them. I do stand by my original thought. Magic? Give me a break Update - March 2007 Well I stand corrected. I've rewatched the movie recently and must give the editing and the way the story unfolds big kudos, the acting is very strong. The movie's screenplay is probably the strongest thing here, changed from three to four stars The original one sheet was blah but the dvd treatment was much worse ![]() Update - January 2009 A recent new year's viewing is catapulting this flick to 5-stardom, ish is fire and Nolan's style does not go unnoticed (it sadly is also does on the list of awesome flicks with whack poster/cover) Links - blog post 7/14/2006 - The Prestige trailer - http://danielbored.blogspot.com/2006/08/new-illusionist-one-sheet.html - http://eddieonfilm.blogspot.com/2006/11/you-have-to-get-your-hands-dir... - http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2006/08/the_prestige_onesheet_in_the_s.html Last Updated 1/1/2009 9:50:01 AM 2hr 08min / Directed by Christopher Nolan / Starring Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Piper Perabo, Rebecca Hall, Scarlett Johansson, Samantha Mahurin, David Bowie, Andy Serkis / Language: English / Watched: DVD Also by Christopher Nolan - filmography (5 movies)
