This is one of the best movies of the 2005
Plot: In 1933 New York, an overly ambitious movie producer coerces his cast and hired ship crew to travel to mysterious Skull Island, where they encounter Kong, a giant ape who is immediately smitten with leading lady Ann Darrow.
So much hype, I'm setting myself up for disappointment. The movie does deliver The scenes between Anne (Watts) and Kong have silent movie qualities, so much expression in faces, great music. The movie has amazing visuals (Weta) though many of the dark scenes (caves, insects galore) are too LOTR Black is tragically miscast, a doom that could never really be lifted. I mean, he's starring in Nacho Libre next. ToGawp asks who should it have been, I say anyone. The rest of the cast is very solid: Brody and Hanks, both crews (film and the "Venture") are well rounded and intensily memorable The climax of the movie when Kong falls of the Empire State Building is like the end of a majestic symphony. Surreal The runtime is scary, eventually a tad too long All in all, an incredible tour de force, especially with what people come to expect from Jackson.
