Plot: Four kids travel through a wardrobe to the land of Narnia and learn of their destiny to free it with the guidance of a lion messiah.

Based on the famous children novel by CS Lewis, there's a bit of controversey because of the Christian subtext of the original material

The movie starts off pretty strongly actually, we're in for a nice journey in Narnia through the eyes of the young Lucy. It's all captivating and a bit in the mood of Lemony Snickets' which would have been a good thing

Things kinda fall apart and get boring fast though. A lil bit kids movies, the fight scenes and the animal cgi were quite amazing (the Lion Aslan looked so good), wish there were more of them. On the other hand, seems like the costumes for the baddies were kinda Halloween-like (lame-o). In particular, the Queen/Witch (Tilda Swinton) had an awful portrayal (and makeup and everything), she really turned me off and was one of the weaker part of the movie

Some people are bothered that the war scenes and the entire movie are santized from blood and that actually weakens the movie. It didn't bother me as much but the movie is on the whole disappointing despite having potential. Was also too long

To note, director Adamson has a background in visual effects and animation (co-director on Shrek and Shrek 2)

1st week numbers are very good, with the 2nd biggest opening for the month of December (23rd biggest opening week-end all time) which may mean more Chronicles of Narnia adaptations in the future
