heist / sequel
   (imdb rating: 6.0/10)

Plot: Daniel Ocean recruits one more team member so he can pull off three major European heists in this sequel to Ocean's 11.

Style over substance would sum up this sequel to the remake of a few years ago, most of the same team is back for a second go around, including the actors and the director

This time around, our band of thieves are forced to reunite by another thief who sell them out to Terry Benedict, the vengeful owner of the Bellagio. This thief who calls himself the nightfox is played with flair by French actor Vincent Cassel who's introduction is one of the best scene of the movie (we see him in his flamboyant lifestyle of women and fast cars)

In this movie, Pitt and Zeta-Jones (plays an Interpol detective) actually take a more prominent role compared to Clooney's Danny Ocean. Zeta-Jones continue to wow me as an actress, she has a few undeniable qualities. My friend said she kinda looked bad in red

In contrast, Julia Roberts looked kinda horrible though it may have been the point. After much speculation, she does indeed play the team's 12th person. Bruce Willis has an interesting but short cameo playing himself

I can't say much about Soderbergh, his direction was ok. One would remember his panning over a random object that he gets to tie to the end (backpack vs car pine-scent freshner)

The beautiful locations all over Europe are the movie's strengths but the plot falls a bit flat (the big masterplan isn't as elaborate this time around). Comic book writer Steven Grant judiciously pointed out that the big difference is that in Ocean's Eleven, each participant had a specific skill that came together nicely in the heist, but hardly anyone does anything specific in 'Twelve

In closing, this wasn't really worth seein in theaters but on dvd, why not

As with the first movie, the dvd release had to go with a rework of the movie poster though this time they stuck closer to the original theme (12 on the floor, white background), the dvd cover of Ocean's Eleven is so awful

The dvd menus do feature that spankin art work (black figures from top walking on white background), slick
