Plot: A listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small Midwestern town high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.

This movie has generated a lot of cult buzz with the Vote For Pedro t-shirt some have started to wear. Further hype followed with praise from my friends and the movie star Jon Heder getting Punk'd recently in season 4

Alas. This is some weird ish

Heder plays Napoleon Dynamite, a kid going to high school in Idaho, he's weird, he's bullied and spends his time making very strange looking drawings. He quickly strikes up a friendship with Pedro (Efren Ramirez) who eventually runs for class president. The whole thing is very retro 80s, thought the movie appears to be contempory. What's so 80s is the attitude, the clothes, the sets and the people. A couple of other colorful characters come to mind

The character of Uncle Rico (Gries) is a total jackass, a has-been football player who is stuck in his dreams of glory from yesteryear while he makes some moola being a door to door salesman

Another one is Kip (Ruell), who is somehow related to Napoleon. He's a super loser dude who spends hours in cyberspace with a girl he eventually meets. Her being Black and turning him gangsta is supposed to be important

I think the movie ultimately is about Napoleon, staying true to himself and finding people who understand and appreciate him. I guess people are wowed by his dance as skit for Pedro, it's some Praise You type ish

There's a happy ending, I guess that's that.

Oh yeah this is random but Summer's white boyfriend looks like my friend Mike Swei. Word.

The coolest thing of the movie is the novel opening credits with cast and crew presented on food plates and other props that have to do with the movie, kudos there.

Didn't do it for me
