(imdb rating: 8.3/10)
This is one of the best movies of the 2004
Plot: The murderous Bride continues her vengeance quest against her ex-boss, Bill, and his two remaining associates; his younger brother Budd, and Bill's latest flame Elle.
The movie starts up on the El Paso Massacre, it sets things up nicely but things are pretty slow from the all out action we had last movie. Some people complained you couldn't see anything that happened in the chapel but I thought those shots were masterful. The chapter about the lonely grave was kinda sucky. In fact, Madsen's character really sucks balls. How did an elite killer end up living in a trailer, working as a strip club bouncer. The scene where his boss chewed his ass was weak, that whole thing was supposed to tell us how much of a loser he was. I think it was supposed to be a big revelation how he's Bill's brother. The rest of the movie was good though, overall. Uma Thurman is a goddess, I may have said it before but it is worth reiterating. Some fun moments with her training with the "sifu" and her fight with Daryl Hannah definitely was kick ass. Things with Bill were a bit weird but still good. I thought we'd have a long ass final fight, but things wrapped up nicely. The little girl is so adorable (Perla Haney-Jardine). Kudos on casting. David Carradine is mighty impressive, the guy has presence and can deliver his lines. Nice little cameo by Tarantino flick alumn Samuel Jackson. I'm still wondering what was up with bleeping and revealing her name later on.. some quirks I guess. The music was grandiose, you oughtta pick both soundtracks. As a side note, Michael Parks was cast as both the sheriff (vol1) and the old hispanic pimp (vol2); Gordon Liu played Johnny Mo (vol1) and Pai Mei (vol2). He was of course hilarious as the latter but pretty funny as the former as well I'm eager to screen this movie with vol. 1, looking forward to a proper dvd release, I know it will not disappoint. I know some folks weren't feeling the undertone of the love story and the action stuff didn't match with their expectation after vol. 1 but whatev. Liked it better than Vol. 1 though some people hated on it hard. It was definitely less action but it was tight Carradine has such charisma, he ruled a lot. Meanwhile Madsen's Bud character was major gay. On a rewatch, the opening scene was still kinda good, and that fight scene in the trailer was so the shit. It's this clostrophobic punch out extravaganza. And of course the memorable end to that fight is so powerful I'll admit the dialogue was a bit drawn out to say the least. The end is a bit anticlimactic too Anyway, word to Tarantino for keepin it gangsta and making Uma shine even more than she already does Chingon (a band made up for the movie by Robert Rodriguez) playing out the end credits is pretty brilliant, some of the best shots of the movie is in there and we get almost everyone who acted in the movie with their character names, it's pretty powerful The "Q&U" credit refers to Quentin and Uma Links - album review - Kill Bill Vol. 2 by OST (Original Sound Track) Last Updated 8/4/2005 9:36:36 PM 2hr 16min / Directed by Quentin Tarantino / Starring Uma Thurman, David Carradine / Language: English / Watched: DVD Also by Quentin Tarantino - filmography (6 movies)
