Captain America Vol. 4: Cap Lives (2005)
Dave Gibbons, Lee Weeks
comics - ISBN 0785113185
I have a hard time believing the cover showcased are by Gene Ha, they are stunning (realistic style). Must be the inking or something, because he is the artist on Top Ten and that title doesn't do it for me
This is actually a What If story about a post WWII world that sees the victory of Nazi Germany, and their occupation of America when Captain America resurfaces frozen in the ocean New York becomes New Berlin under the rule of the new Reichsfuehrer Red Skull. Most of the other contemporary super-heroes are civilians (Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Steven Strange, Reeds Richard, etc..) with a very notable character, James Buchanan Barnes who died in normal continuity (people know him better under his sidekick name, Bucky) Weeks who's better known for his work on The Hulk reminds me here of a mix between Klaus Jansen and Mark Bagley, it's solid old school art Some pretty interesting concept here, especially Red Skull's maniac idea of conquering eternity Execution is okay, nothing more Buy from Amazon Wikipedia Google Books Related in comics - 2006 Powers: Psychotic - 2005 Ultimates 2: Vol 1 - Gods & Monsters - 2005 Powers: Legends - 2004 Powers: Forever - 2004 Ultimates Vol. 1: Super-Human |
