Great stuff including first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15. The trade also collects Amazing Spider-Man #1-20, and Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1

Some classic frames here, especially in lieu of the recent movie franchises that rewrote some of the backstory. Originally, Peter Parker got bitten by a radiactive spider at his high school lab, not visiting a museum. He did not shoot organic webs from his hands, rather he made special cartridges that shoot a compound he made (he was a scientist nerd after all), he attached them around his wrists. The whole story with him being a nerd and his making money causing Uncle Ben's death is about as verbatim as it gets

The Amazing Fantasy story is only 12 pages. The last page has a cool blurb explaining his mask and costume

Amazing Spider-Man #1
Deals with the aftermath of Uncle Ben's death. Peter tries to raise some money through his performance and runs into a funny problem getting paid (Just make out the check to Spider-Man). Things get worse when J. Jonah Jameson, editor of the Daily Bugle, becomes outspoken about Spider-Man as a menace. Jameson will become a recurring character in the Spidey mytho
