$12 general admission ($14 at door, sold out though, scalpers suck)

Back at the Independent for Band Of Horses, been really digging the album. Showed up way too early, again. This time it was bad cuz it was damn cold and they let anyone in until well after 9pm (originally doors 8:30p)

Anyway, got in and actually sat on the "ledge" to the right. The first act was Sera Cahoone. Kinda chill country like stuff. She was good. Reminded me of this girl I just met. Anyway, not so my cup of tea but I got a cd and I actually like it

I went outside to chill before the main act got back in and someone took the stage, didn't look like Band of Horses. I know what their singer looks like, and though this kid was sporting a beard, it didn't look right. It was actually Mt. Egypt. They were billed on the ticket but I didn't see any Mt. Egypt merchandise so that threw me for a loop. Anyway, his stuff was way mellow, he had lights so dim for his entire set (shorter than Sera's). It was cool, I think the singer/guitarist Travis is friends with Band Of Horses. Got a cd too, though the chick at the table handed me an old ass cd from 2003. On a first listen, ish is kinda .. bleh

Band Of Horses came on pretty late. 11ish. They played this ridiculous song to hype a rock audience (or themselves up), Chamillionaire's current club joint "Ridin". Just weird. They started things proper with "Monsters". They sounded so good. The singer was doing some weird vocals though, away from the mic and with a lotta reverb. He was giving shout outs to the Independent sound guy and sayin how this was one of his favorite places to play. I think the reverb got outta control a couple of times. In general I like the songs that rock more, the slow stuff is.. a bit too slow. Still good though. They played three new songs that werent bad (the first one sounded best). They mentioned an EP that should come out soon. The end was kinda weird, the band left without any kind of send off and the singer sat by himself to play a new song, just him and guitar. It was kinda good though

Partial set list (unordered, pretty sad no "St-Augustine")
Monsters
The First Song
The Great Salt Lake
Weed Party
The Funeral
Our Swords
Wicked Gil
Part One

Very good concert (not the best picture day, here's the entire set)
