Got there late past 9:30p, Seiko & Salome already started their set. The Rickshaw Stop (Fell and Van Ness, tiniest sign) is probably the dingiest or coolest small venue I've gone to. It's more a bar with a stage than a concert venue proper but it does the job. The highlight of the location, a couple of rickshaws where couples can snuggle (although the upstairs one is like a single seater).. weirdness. The Chinese lanterns on the wall with the xmasy lights are a nice touch




I went upstairs and chilled for a minute next to some girl named Maria. Asked her who the band was, she had no idea. They were ok. Girl asked me to save her seat which I was glad to do with my little Borders bag (got some 2 cds for $22 action). Two gay biker dudes asked me if the seat was taken about 2min after she left. I say yeah. Of course Maria would never come back. She did make a sign from downstairs but it was strange, it was like 3 instances of misunderstanding in a 5min of interaction



It was a good 30-45min before Irving started their own set. They kinda rocked hard, guitars and all, the drummer was on fire. I ended up getting their latest cd




The Essex Green came out pretty late at 11:35p. They started things off with 2 of the 4 songs I've ever heard them play. The singer / keyboardist was kinda cute. I liked the way she said "thank you". This high pitch voice. The band hails from Brooklyn, sounded pretty good but was often times more country than indie pop. It was a trip to see white people rock out to this music. Jigga please. It's all good. One of the Irving guitarists came to listen to The Essex Green towards the end, that was a nice show of support




$11 for 3 bands, that's $3.66/band. Cheapness. Virtuous.com is my favorite ticketing site. Flickr set
