Made the trek to Sac Thursday for my first concert of the year. It took about three hours on the Amtrak from Santa Clara, it was incredibly hot on the train, like 80 degrees with next to no air flow. Some parts of the ride were real scenic though and it's pretty roomy and uncrowded. $22 one way

The Cribs was the opener on the triple bill, they're kind of a MTV new-rock UK trio, missed part of their set cuz we were having some food before the show. They had a really cool logo

Death Cab' was up next and they had stage hands put together some weird wood houses with lights inside.. it was a bit weak. They sprang for an actual backdrop though compared to their headlining tour last year, some cool trees, they sold a tour shirt with that motif. They played a solid set, highlights were "The New Year", "Title and Registration" (with Ben bangin on the drums a bit silly), the very chill Ben solo "I Will Follow You In The Dark" (it helped that everyone wasn't making out this time around, the DCFC fans were very young though), "Marching Bands of Manhattan " and the extra good finale "Transatlanticism"

We actually sat down for Franz Ferdinand, not to sure or what to expect, and being tired and all. They turned out to be a most impressive band, high energy with some killer riffs. I thought the Nicholas McCarthy (guitars) and Paul Thomson (drums) were an amazing combo, so raw and "outta control". Alexander Kapranos the singer was good I guess, he needs to cut the chatter cuz seriously no one understand his thick accent. I couldn't really get past the fact that his hair was so long, he looked like Thom Yorke from Radiohead (okay that's more cuz we sat up kinda far). Highlights were "Do You Want To", "Take Me Out", "Michael", This Boy" and that psychadelic closer "This Fire". They had a really cool thing where the tour keyboardist and some stage hand came out to rock out the drums to close the show. The end was really strong

The event staff was out in full force but I didn't see them do much except herd people off the vip seating area, overall really glad I saw Franz and I'm off to listen to both albums
