Still the January issue got some good stuff from the picture on the "rave run" to its ads and gear guides (glow in the dark!). This month's "On the Road" (running maps) features Miami Brooks continues to impress me with its multi page spread cartoon ads (example), the vibrant drawings were originally part of a campaign with underground illustrators, conceived by a small Portland firm JohnsonSheen Advertising (now JohnsonCowanHanrahan). The ads today still use the same slogan, they got a winner with "Run World, Run" For all the coolness of the Adidas 1 commercials (Jonze's "Hello Tomorrow" or "Impossible is Nothing" with KG), the thick magazine spread is just tacky. I'm still skeptical about the $250 shoe with a chip, I like em light. 1) add/substract 10min 2) vary pace within run 3) go through different running paces over week/month (5k, 10k, half and full marathon) Other highlights - CW-X gear, skin tight insulating stuff - abs exercises - 2006 marathon calendar by Nissan - "Stunt Runners" has great pics - the shoe of the year is the Asics GT2100 A one-year subscription (12 issues) for Runner's World is only $20 Links - http://www.runnersworld.com - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005NIOR/kewlio-20
