Me and some friends were just talking about how AIM sucked and we should ditch it hard (Yahoo! or MSN Messenger, Google Talk, anything). Zach Klein has the heads up on the latest beta version of AIM codename Triton (cool name) From the install to the program itself, shiny fresh UI. I dig. Notable are some ads displayed inline (it's the alternative of having an ad on the buddy list). That looks to be shown everytime you start an im conversation AIM add-on DeadAIM has long made its popularity on tabs so you can keep a single im window with separate users (tabs rule the world). The new AIM ups the ante with separate tabs up top per user for text, talk, video and files. Users have their own separate tab on the left side. Switching from tab to tabs is quite flashy There are a ton of new features, it's a good question whether they are useful at all. At the outset the update on the UI is a welcome change Download AIM Triton 396 KB Update A couple of friends who are using existing versions of AIM say there are some issues with error messages saying they could not be delivered, they would pop up every time a line is sent.. kind of a deal breaker Update 2 (Jan 2006) Gave this another chance Links - http://www.aim.com/get_aim/win/win_beta.adp?aolp=
