Big hype on the Conan O'Brien show for 10/7, it was a show with a single guest, the Irish mega band U2 It started with a fun segment of Conan playing with hopeful fans lined up outside Radio City Hall for show tickets. Conan was his usual brash self, yelling at people, charming others, pretty funny. U2 took the little Late Night show stage and performed the first of 4 songs, "All Because Of You" which sounded great live. Following that was a skit called "In the year 2000" with The Edge and Bono joining Conan for silly predictions The first interview was all fun with anecdotes about the band. They broke for commercial and came back with the band playing "Origin Of Species". Very solid. The 2nd interview was more serious with Bono's work to end poverty in Africa (The One Campaign), there was a mention of him being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize though he has little hope of winning as a rock star (it went to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and its Director General, Mohamed ElBaradei) The show closed with a medley of an acoustic-ish "Stuck In The Moment" and "Vertigo" Delivered big time. Bono in particular was freakin awesome.
