Yeah it took me all of 2 sec to come up with this post title. This last LA trip was as memorable as ever, the drive down and up were surprisingly traffic free. Listened to more trance than I've had in my whole lifetime but it was cool, I dug Lucy's Keane and Franz Ferdinand (a lil less) cds. Rene listens to some hip-hop that's a lil too indie, but the jazz stuff was fly. Hey as long as you drivin it's aight w/ me Driving in Los Angeles was of course a nightmare, the heavy rain sure didn't help, I hear the weather was a bit worse in the Bay Rolled into Pasadena area Thursday around 8-9ish pm, headed to Cheescake Factory for a quick bite. That place is kinda whack, and no green beer on St-Paddy's Day We stayed in Alhambra at xin pengyou brother Mike's place, it was a good location, not far from Hollywood (where we party) or Arcadia (where we eat ha) First day rained out, we were gonna go to Magic Mountain but they were opening the next day. We went to the Getty instead, after some Hainan chicken at the tiny HK cafe Savoy. It was good, no one really finished their plates but me, so weak The Getty is always great, even in the rain. For some reason they made us park offsite like 3 miles so we didn't get to ride the cool ass tramway (shuttle instead). Actually walked most of the Getty this time around, which is more than I can say for my last 2 visits. There was a nice exhibit on the French Revolution, I felt very patriotic about it hah. I liked this one room that had the Monets, Van Goghs and Renoirs (Promenade baby). There was this huge Jackson Pollack piece that was kinda good but it was in the European paintings sections so I'm not sure what was what. We went to Westwood (near UCLA) to kill some time (and get great ice cream cookie sandwich at Diddy Reese). It was fun though we could not find a theater playing Ring Two to save our lives. We kinda stumbled into Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, a pretty fancy comic book store with all kinds of props and costumes from the Kevin Smith movie. Jim Lee did an amazing sketch on a red door there, I took cool some pics but I of course lost my camera... Ugh, I only had it since January We talked a lotta shit on this trip, "robots beaming info to homebase and recharging batteries" shit, I made up the phrase "she's such a little hoe lang" (Canto for pretty, well with a twist obviously), I think we visited the nicest toilets up at the Colburn School of Performing Arts, while goin to WDCH (Walt Disney Concert Hall), going there at night proved anti-climactic but the venue is damn nice, pictures just wouldn't work. I took some decent ones with night shot mode on but yeah, see above. Bleh. The 15 miles ride from Westwood to WDCH took us an hour, kind of a record even for shitty LA driving Lil scared Young Rene had to fly in late so we got rejected good at Level 3. We ended up goin to Blink, some Korean lounge where I drank outta control and lost my camera. I care. Ok I do, but I was sober for BCD so it made it all okay. We went to BCD the next day after clubbin, I luv this stuff Day 2 was shopping day at the Cabazon outlet about 74 miles east or so. John and I found ish to buy at the first store we hit, granted it was Lacoste which is pretty safe. It was some of the best shopping ever, I got two tight pairs of Pumas and clothes for like the rest of the year (hopefully). We actually hit up Gilroy on the drive back to San Jose and I found even more ish. Rene won best shopper of the trip, she (crazy) good I picked our big dinner at Geisha House which is this Hollywood spot, kinda all atmosphere but the food was ok. Seein Jamie Kennedy there was a plus HERE (yeah this ain't a confusing name) in WeHo (Jason says West Hollywood is gayer than Castro) was a hot club, good music tho small dancefloor, whutev. I worked the bar good but didn't have that much fun. There were some good fine chicks for sure. Funny how local kid Jase said it was weak, jbc and I thought it was like girl paradise. Some kid was pimpin a girl that came from Japan, like a foreign exchange student. She barely spoke English and that guy was like yeahhh nice. I think I saw too many kids makin out, grossey DTF rocked but that's like guaranteed, if only it wasn't so packed, comes with the territory. jbc ordered wrong off the menu hahha, it's ok, I do it all the time at AJ Goin back to LA for suuuure. Talkin to Bernie after I came back and kid was like "let's move there" Links - pictures - /2005/03 mar 17-23 skandalous los angeles - restaurant review - Geisha House - restaurant review - Savoy Pizza & Pasta - restaurant review - Diddy Riese - restaurant review - BCD Tofu House - restaurant review - Din Tai Fung - 鼎泰豊 - Arcadia - http://wdch.laphil.com/
