gotta love matinee prices. it's also very convenient how shoreline isn't even 10min away from castro in mountain view where me and my buddies have lunch. however, the $6.50 i spent was the best thing about watching constantine, that and some needed nap time

Constantine (2005) - 2/5
IMDB (6.4/10): Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book Hellblazer and written by Kevin Brodbin, Mark Bomback and Frank Capello, Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), who has literally been to hell and back.

Reeves plays John Constantine, a detective investigating the occult caught up in a battle between Heaven and Hell from the Vertigo comic book Hellblazer (the mature line from DC Comics)

There are some interesting concepts and very light theology involved but it could have gone deeper with it. Mostly the movie falls flat on the lack of chemistry between the main actors

I don't really read the comic so I'm not sure how faithful this is to the source material but reviews in general give thumbs down

Francis Lawrence has a background in directing music videos so the amazing visuals are to be expected though it started to weigh a bit too heavily after the initial whoa

Reeves continue to be unimpressive in his choice of roles and performance though I suppose he bears some physical ressemblance to the title character; Weisz wasn't very engaging either though she was a lot more intense

I'm not sure the movie did all that well but it must have done okay since I've read about Warner giving the ok for a sequel. Sigh..
