ish came in the afternoon today, a day early. i was hoping it'd be enclosed in another box so i wouldn't look like an ass who gets random shit shipped to work all the time but it's aight. went home to play with it

i gave it a quick look and thought it was black like the box would suggest but it's actually got a silver semi-opaque front faceplate (ish glows when it's on, can be turned off though)

setup was a breeze, you active it the tivo on the web (or phone if u suck), enter credit card info and tivo s/n, you're done in 5min

the actual tivo setup takes a while, and at least for first time use, you need to connect to the phone and it dials a local number to connect to tivo. it'll do that 3 separate times (setup call, program call and connect to tivo) and after it's all said and done, there's about an hour after it receives programming info and needs to do some weird indexing shit.. mind you it says that takes 4 to 8 hours, i'm glad it wasn't so bad

i played around with it a bit, programmed the ir remote to work with my plasma (putting that remote control away for sure) and created some season passes

i guess i was home for about 2 hours total

next, i'm borrowin lil gee's usb wireless adapter to see if i can network it - so i can get rid of the phone cord and stream some music/photos from pc

ish workin good, during the day, it auto-recorded an episode of angel (suggestion service, only when space permits) after it finished recording some reality show on mtv i had set for trial run. man, the basic recording (lowest quality) really looks like ass. anway, i paused it durin tonight's game 2 of bos-nyy (them boston boys got nailed, again), then finally smallville recording kicked in... dang i can't watch tv while it's being recorded.. that's kinda lame. overall pleased though, for sure

some quick complaints
- if you have a bunch of season passes and reorder them/edit them, it takes forever to get set, like 5 min, wtf
- im not sure about this but the to do list which is a list of shows to record might not be totally sync'd to the season passes, which means that updates to the season pass is only gonna be effective henceforth
- my unit has kind of a hiss humming which is kinda annoying, somehow related to the audio source
- browsing the guide in grid mode is sloowww
