bastille day - le 14 juillet

Today is our National Holiday in France, the equivalent of America's 4th of July. It commemorates the day the people took over the Bastille prison in Paris (La prise de la Bastille) in 1789, an important event in our revolution to overthrow the abusive King and Monarchy. Anyways, San Francisco actually has many French citizens and there's some kind of celebration going down in the French Quarter. I did not even know there was a French Quarter but it is supposed to be off Bush at Claude Lane and Belden Place. 5PM to Midnight, drink up. Back home in Paris, it's of course a day off, but there's usually this huge military parade (I'm talking tanks baby) down the Champs Elysées with fireworks and sometimes jet fighters. Vive La France!
