Continuing my bouts of insomnia (goin on two weeks strong.. i should stop it) I watched this "little" movie in the wee hours of the night.. it had that eerie Virgin Suicide quality.. the music is a big part of it I think. Scarlett Johansson (what a great name) was the big revelation for me, she owns every single scene she's in and that's credit to Coppola. Girl got grace. There's something so sexy about the way she moves (must be the smoking).

The movie is mellow for sure, reflective, intense.. a lot is conveyed in the silences, the actors' looks and things they do not say. Kinda makes you stop and think.. we're all a work in progress, still

How come studios often redo dvd covers... i mean ud think they put a lotta work on movie posters in the first place. granted, some work better as posters (teasers) than dvd covers.. still, for this flick, i like the poster better than the sad lookin dvd cover (Murray lookin lame on his bed).. hey id have slapped the opening butt shot on the cover, ure done! haha

Lost In Translation (2003) - 3/5
IMDB (7.9/10): A movie star with a sense of emptiness, and a neglected newlywed meet up as strangers in Tokyo and form an unlikely bond.

Ermmmm nice asssss... the movie is about two Americans (Murray and Johansson), lonely and "lost" in Tokyo Japan, but finding some comfort in each other's discomfort and estrangedness.. quite good, kinda sad

I wonder what did Bob whisper to Charlotte's ear at the end.. it doesn't really matter, it made me smile (and we find out what he said in 2007, maybe)

This is critics favorite Sofia Coppola's 2nd movie (writer as well as director). A big time indie hit and Oscar contender, girl would go on and get the Oscar for best original screenplay
