Saw Kill Bill Vol. 1 tonight at Mercado, pretty hot w/ some highs and lows

Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) - 4/5
IMDB (8.3/10): The Bride wakes up after a long coma. The baby that she carried before entering the coma is gone. The only thing on her mind is to have revenge on the assassination team that betrayed her - a team she was once part of.

Tarantino's tale of vengeance and blood, this movie is all jacked up, the story is crazy and dialogue is vintage Tarantino.

The movie of course is about Uma Thurman's revenge on her former assassin cohorts and their boss, Bill (Carradine). Of the 4 major characters, Michael Madsen has the smallest screen time on the first volume (the other assassins are Vivica Fox, Lucy Liu and Daryl Hannah) Lotta things are unanswered but I guess I am down for vol. 2

Said to be the director's tribute to kung fu flick, I believe it is more a tribute to Uma Thurman, whom he rightfully calls a goddess

The anime was bleh to me, but all that Japanese stuff with subs was kinda fun. Uma Thurman rules all, she did that square thing at one point, reminiscing of her part in Pulp Fiction

Both the opening and ending scenes are breathtaking.. so sick, I wonder how the movie will play as a complete set rather than separated in 2 volumes. I'm afraid Carradine's Bill character cannot live up to his mystique right now, he looks like the baddest motherfucker ever

Lil big up to the scene featuring the Crazy 88s walking into the restaurant/bar, the Slo-(Johnny)Mo is on some beautiful ish

Finally something has to be said about the wonderful soundtrack (awesome choices, especially Nancy Sinatra, chilling opening song to go with a chilling opening scene) and score, which was composed by hip-hop maestro the Rza, how dope is that? It'ss loud and in your face and so moody but it sets up the scenes really well. Sometimes though I thought there was too much dead air.

Pulp Fiction Notes
Was rewatchin 'Pulp (Tarantino's masterpiece) and there was this interesting scene at Jack Rabbit diner where Mia (Thurman) was telling Vega (Travolta) about her pilot, it was a show about deadly assassins called Fox Force Five.. each of the chicks having a specialty. In that pilot, Thurman played the role of a killer skilled with knives... kinda cool yea?

Very odly the first shot of Thurman in Kill Bill, lying half dead with Bill talkin to her, looks like the shot of her when she was ODing, before Travolta gave her the adrenaline straight to the heart
