MTV hasn't been known for its music videos for a while, kind of a shame really when you think about it, it spells Music Television for chrissake. At any rate, altho I have developed quite a loathing to reality tv, I've always had a soft spot for these random shows on MTV, with the realest of reality tv (pun), the Real World, to Cribs and much more. This year's crop hasn't been bad, Real World XI takes place in Paris, city of love. They always have some creative way to put episodes together, I often wondered what the contestants if you will, thought about the shows and how it went down. Must be a trip, showing shit to prove a point or for a particular theme (like this chick is a drama queen or this guy is a jerk). Recently, Punk'd was the shizzah, I've had a blast watching Newlyweds, a show about pop princess Jessica Simpson and her 98 Degrees beau, Nick Lachey. I guess I've always had a weird fascination for celebrities, I could be a stalker for real.. nahh, I don't think I could approach em haha.

Culminating this Thursday is the 2003 VMAs, the self-celebrating show where the coolest and hippest industry cats will show up. Usually spiced up with pretty good performances and skits, it is hosted by the best host to grace the show in years, Chris Rock. It's gonna be hot, hope I'm not setting myself up with too much anticipation and hype. The marketing machine has been there tho, beating the anouncement over and over, we know, it's gonna be big

Update 8/28
Well after watching the grand affair, I gotta say the whole shindig was sorta boring, save a few well-placed zinger from Chris Rock. I mean even though my man delivered on the opening of the VMAs, it was just a disappointment. No great speeches, a couple of funky performances (the way too chill P.I.M.P from 50 Cent and Beyonce's big hair) but Coldplay rocked it with the Scientist.. I wish they didn't curtailed the ending when C. Martin does his thing and howls at the moon.. they cut that short, that's how sucky the VMAs are.. BLAH. I guess I'm jus going thru a phase where I don't enjoy much.. I find myself complaining about everything for reals.
