I've been lookin out for this since the Tablehopper heads up. So crazy close to where I live, a dangerous proposition really.. burger.. every week?

They repainted the outside though it's a half assed job


This is all part of Joie De Vivre (a boutique hotel operator) taking over the Best Western in Soma. There's also a Custom Lounge for drinks right next door. It looks pretty impressive, for this part of town

The place opened 8/20/07, the concept is you pick all the ingredients for your burger ("customized"), more pics
I had a 1/3lb angus burger, omg I'm about to pass out from the cholesterol. It was quite good though and now we can all have a medium rare burger like civilized people. Ditto for arugula. I had pepper jack, red onion and sauteed mushroom. The arugula and cheese and the beef were amazing. The onion coulda been better and the mushroom just took up spice

One sauce is offered with the burger but it goes a lot better with fries, Frjtz style. I thought the Chipotle Cilantro Mayo would rock but this Roasted Garlic Aioli was the bomb... the fries coulda been crispier

The Potato Pepper bun was fine but kinda fell apart. The burger is served with a giant pickle, deli style. That's a bit off but actually a refreshing palate cleanser of sort

All in all a really good burger obscenely close to where I live. It is the definitely the gourmet kind

The decor is pretty sterile, it reminds me a bit of Taylor's in the Ferry Bldg, just in the middle of my beautiful ghetto (things are slowly improving). Service could be better, it's mostly slow, gotta give em some slack considering it's been one day

It took freaking 20min for my order so remember fast food this ain't. Oh and you'll love the price, all that jazz was $13.53. I'd go back though, it's a mean burger, you prolly hav to hit the gym though

Bonus: they serve beer, wine, also have salads and desserts (+shakes)
