I went to this show with jv who's a bit too cool for school/a disser at heart so it was hard not to hop on the bandwagon when she proclaimed she hated opener Test Your Reflex (Southern California, which must obviously not be LA) after a song and a half. It was an odd pairing, they're more mtv pop rock, but it's all good, it was all about the Smashing Pumpkins They played from about 10p to 1am, which was crazy long though expected. The small acoustic interlude was a bit ill advised but the last song Billy played solo was very impressive, there was some Rodrigo Y Gabriela steezy in there, def good. He unfortunately had to deal with a pretty angry heckler which kept yelling out fu, but Corgan handled it pretty well. That kid eventually got kicked out (good). The jokes need work though, he should just cut that out. Zeitgeist was hit ("Tarantula", "Starz", "That's the Way My Love Is") and miss. They didn't play "For God And Country" which was bums. All the older stuff, anything off Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie' was just awesome.. the high of the night may have been "Tonight, Tonight" Set list (credits) United States I'll be going back for the last show, Aug 1st.
