Tuesday was Pipettes day though Hot Chip may have very well rocked, I'm not a huge fan actually First up the in-store show @ Amoeba. They played a short set of four songs, kinda acoustic'in it. So cute, couldn't wait for the real thing a few hours later Some pics, entire set ![]() ![]() The Rickshaw Stop show was sold out, pretty cheap ($15 door, $12 advance). Monster Bobby opened up, too much humor, I suppose he was ok. He's actually the kick ass guitarist for the Pipettes. Respect. Smoosh which I've missed at Bloc Party were crazy talented girls, kids! A bit sloppy at times but, cmon, kids! The crowd cheered a ton when the youngest one got on stage to play bass. They played one song that was real good, maybe it was "Waiting For Something". "She's Right" was cool, so was their cover of "This Modern Love", to think I've heard "Find A Way" so long ago, never suspecting it was prepubescent teens. The drum girl gets my vote, cuz I love drums, hello (final note: their hop dancing sidestage was really dorky/adorable). The Pipettes were lurking in the crowd in civilian clothing.. who did they wanna fool? Still I didn't wanna blow their cover, they just wanted to vibe to the show The Pipettes' full performance was a delight, I'm partial to Rosay for the moves but Gwenno is nice on the eyes. Real nice. Davey Havok of AFI was in attendance, diggin the show (no full on dancing, that was mostly girls thank goodness). He went backstage later, lucksy. They didn't play "Sex" but it was rather great anyways (this kid taped the entire show, great qual) Set list Don't forget me Some pics, entire set Smoosh ![]() The Pipettes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Links - blog post 4/30/2007 - The Pipettes to play Rickshaw Stop - blog post 3/12/2007 - Concert to attend: The Pipettes
