That's the third Yundi Li performance for me. I'm a fan. Tried for different seats this time, tier 2 section aa row b ($37)

Not too shabby though those seats behind the orchestra keep intriguing me (central terrace, gen. admission for $25)

So I have to say, I was a bit shocked. I didn't read up too much on the program but Yundi was only playing the middle section of a three part program (no piano as we got there, oh thanks Lu for tagging along, despite allergies and all the other crappy stuff, nice outfit).

On the program
- Brahms Symphony No. 3
Pretty good, the third movement had a pretty famous string piece, that was really neat to hear that played live

- Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1 (with Yundi Li)
Yundi shone of course, the piece selection left a bit to be desired. Not super enthused in general, and the triangle shtick was distracting

- Ravel Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2
Impressive at times but mostly ok, felt short.. hmmm

I had never seen assistant conductor James Gaffigan, so young (28ish). Great energy. I sorta liked how he singled musicians out for praises.. maybe a bit much.. So overall good, not fantastic but it's always to cool to have an excuse to get back in this building. A small number of tickets are available Friday and Saturday (and I guess, on here). I am linking this flashy interface

Yup, the lodge is ballering status ($110)

Here are some pics, entire set (check out the half assed pano)
