I finally watched The Pursuit of Happyness, yes it took me forever but I'm glad I did. $9 student discount (AMC), it's kind of expensive. cy was swooning over the ad for Shooter. Trailer placement op: Reign Over Me

Will Smith here with the man he plays, Chris Gardner

Pursuit of Happyness (2006) - 4/5
IMDB (7.3/10): A struggling salesman (Will Smith) takes custody of his son (Jaden Smith) as he's poised to begin a life-changing professional endeavor.

An incredible movie that is so sad but it has an inspiring and uplifting ending. Smith is pretty good, he has such a great chemistry with his son (played by his actual son, good stuff). Newton plays a despicable wife, turbo bitch mode on, it's amazing how that makes someone so ugly. I kinda felt that she didn't really fight to stay (spoilers, sorry - yes she leaves her husband and kid). It didn't mess up the movie that much

I wasn't feeling the mustache on Will Smith, the movie did well generally with critics (but not Edward Copeland). It was shot on location in San Francisco, that's hot

The flick really makes you want to do good for people in need. It's that powerful. Big ups to Glide which is doing great things for San Francisco

Chris Gardner has a cameo in the last scene of the movie (the Smiths stroll in a very SF street, great view)

Finally I read something about how they used special effects to erase everything that was built in San Francisco post 1981. I did see a very cool graffiti that they didn't really bother with hehe, nice

Good movie. Wish I could be the next Chris Gardner, but I guess I haven't struggled enough yet.
