 I missed Mew when they opened for Bloc Party @ Greek Theater in Berkeley but I remember this girl said they were good. I didn't plan on it but ended up going to the show last night, it was $10 and there was some cross promotion for Marie-Antoinette with free Sofia champagne (didn't see it, then again I wasn't looking for a can) Anyway, the opener was pretty good, had a weird name that I can't remember. The bassist was injured so it turned into an acoustic set. I kinda liked it, the singer was really into his vocals, making faces and elongated enunciation. They played like 5 songs Mew turned out to be a lot more Sigur Ros than Arcade Fire (that was the event description on the Popscene site), which wasn't all bad. They're from Denmark. The singer was the most impressive, having a "chanting" quality to his voice, very dreamy. Or maybe I had too much beer.
