![]() It's almost here, Thursday Sep 28 is opening day for the mall downtown, the Westfield San Francisco Centre will be "the largest urban shopping center this side of the Mississippi". What's most exciting, besides the stores? - Bristol Farms, a premium grocery store.. not too cool with the premium part but this will be the closest and hopefully best stop for groceries for me and other SOMA residents (Safeway at 4th and Townsend is not too bad, kinda small) - Century Theaters will have nine movie screens with (automated) ticket kiosks on each of the mall's five levels, this will also feature the CineArts sister company that carries indie flicks - Food! Mostly on the Concourse level (fancy for basement), but hopefully adequate lighting and good eating options will make this hotter than your average food court, more on the food section below - BART/Muni access, directly into the Concourse level (Powell station) Here's a quick guide to the opening day events, and a walk through the directory (cool stores, for guys) Stores (full directory bottom) - Bloomingdale's in SF (previously you'd have to go down to Palo Alto, it's chic but driving is lame) - Abercrombie & Fitch, J Crew both previously plagued by tiny retail space at the old mall - Borders Express, a concept on the go news-stand store right next to the BART/Muni entrance - Adidas - Club Monaco - Hugo Boss - BLU by Antik Denim - Kenneth Kole - The Art of Shaving - Tumi - MOMA store - H&M (3rd location) - Hollister - Borders (hugeness) - Solstice, best sunglass store, they let you try stuff right off the racks Food - Jamba Juice - Starbucks - Beard Papas (2nd location) - Bistro Burger - Melt Gelato & Crepe Cafe - Sorabol Korean BBQ - Tom's Cookies Restaurants - Out The Door, eatery based on The Slanted Door, hopefully without the wait - 'wichcraft, Tom Colicchio expands his empire to SF, this one has emphasis on gourmet sandwiches - GoGlobal (not open yet), both 'wichcraft and GoGlobal have prime real estate on street level at Mission (corners of Bloomingdale's) - Lark Creek Steak, sure the city needs another high end steak house - Straits, they closed the Geary location, this will hopefully be more Palo Alto (better food) but I can already imagine it will be loungy and modern like Santana Row Events Wednesday Sep 27 6pm - pre-opening benefit at Century Theaters, screening animal movies with food by `wichcraft, proceeds go to SF Zoo, more info Thursday Sep 28 8am - 10am - complimentary 10min massage at Burke Williams (level 5) 9:30am - grand opening at main stage under the dome (level 4) 11am - 10:30pm - Century Theaters screens movies shot in SF 12pm - 5pm - celebrity chef demonstration (Jeremy Bearman, Charles Phan, Grace Marie Johnston, Chris Yeo, Tim Colicchio) Directory source abercrombie kids Adidas Aldo Accessories Amoura Andale Anne Klein Art of Shaving Asqew Grill Bakers Banana Republic Bandolino Bare Escentuals Bath & Body Works BCBG Beard Papa Beata Bebe Sport Bistro Burger Bloomingdale's Blu by Antik Denim Borders Express Borders, Books, Music, Movies Café Bose Brighton Collectibles Bristol Farms Buckhorn Grill Burke Williams Century Theatres Chico's Clarks Cocoa Bella Chocolates Cocola Bakery Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Coriander Thai Kitchen Derco Jewelers Discovery Channel Eddie Bauer Encanti Forth & Towne Fraganza Frederick's of Hollywood Furla Geox Go Global H&M Hand & Mind Hollister Hot Topic Rock Illuminations J Crew Jacadi Jamba Juice Janie and Jack John Atencio Juicy Couture Karen Millen Kay Of New York Kipling Kozo Arts Landau Lark Creek Steak Lids LL Brown Jewelers Lladro Lucky Lucky Kids Lupicia Tea Mai Do Marciano Martin + Osa Maui Divers Melt Gelato & Crepe Café Metropark Metropolitan Museum of Art Michal Negrin MNG by Mango Movado Mr. Hana Mrs. Fields Napolean Perdis Neda by Bebe Next Authentic Odysea Surf Shop Oilily Out the Door Palm Parasuco Pasta Moto Payless Shoe Source Planet Funk Reiss Ruehl San Francisco Soup Co.
